Mangrove and its habitat posses high ecological value and most and most of them in world are under threaten due to coastal development.

CHEC's experience in mangal and its associated faunal/flora survey, nursery, plantation and mitigation would be valuable in the region.

The sea grass Halopila beccarii occurred at Lau Fu Shan. It is one of four sea grass species recorded in Hong Kong. All size of sea grass beds are of conservation value. They provide excellent habitat for juvenile crab, other fauna and often associated with occurrence of horseshoe crabs.
